Get Involved

The Council also has opportunities for its general membership to get involved statewide through volunteering on IUFC committees.
Those committees are the Annual Conference Planning Committee, Education Committee, Executive Committee, Annual Awards Committee, Promotions and Communication Committee, Partners and Advocacy Committee and Fundraising/Development Committee. Committee meetings are held before or after board meetings or by way of conference calls or email.

Education Committee

Responsible for developing an annual "theme or message"

Suggest or develop ways of publicizing the theme

Contribute/Edits articles for Spring/Fall issue of the Communicator

Create/Copy a handout or brochure for annual conference & general membership meetings

Website creation and maintenance

Programming suggestions for winter/summer and fall conference

Awards Committee

Distributes award packets to members and communities

Selects award winners for Award Ceremony at Annual Conference

Orders plaques for award winners

Annual Conference Committee

Chaired by Vice-President

Develop agenda/program for conference

Develop the Conference theme

Obtain appropriate speakers, exhibitors, and moderators

Arrange location, lodging and food

Prepare promotional items/agenda packet for Conference

Prepare Conference advertisement flyer for mailing to members and communities

Present a post-conference evaluation to Board of Directors

Executive Committee

Reviews & decides on scholarship requests

Provides input/ideas for grant applications

Provides guidance to Executive Director

Prepare Annual budget with assistance from Treasurer

Review and implement strategic five-year plan

Annual Report and Annual meeting with State Forester

Goal Planning

Fundraising & Development Committee

Advise in membership brochure revision

Develop promotional items for fundraising

Assist in membership recruitment efforts

Develop fund raising activities; identify funding sources and annual fundraising campaign

Political advocacy

Build partnerships with allied organizations
